UPDATE: We've reached our goal! We (Guot especially) can not adequately express how grateful we are for everyone's incredible kindness and generosity. A 9-year dream will be fulfilled and a happy man will become an even happier man! If you've helped, thank you! As a side note, our goal was set as a minimum monetary amount to enable Guot to get to Africa and take care of everything related to marrying Mary. Guot and Mary were born in the African country of Sudan. When they were young, a civil war tore the country apart, forcing their families to flee their homes and their country. Many years later, Guot and Mary met in a refugee camp in Kenya where they fell in love. After a thorough vetting process by Mary's family, Guot was found worthy to marry their daughter. For the last 9 years Guot has been working and supporting family members while also saving money to return to Africa to get married. Despite Guot's hard work and frugal lifestyle, he hasn't been able to save enough for the wedding. There are some cultural differences that make the situation difficult to understand. Mary's parents are growing tired of waiting for Guot. Her younger sister is ready to get married, but culture dictates that the oldest daughter in the family must be married first.

We’re trying to help Guot raise enough money that he and Mary can get married by the end of the summer. Anyone who knows Guot can tell you what an incredible man he is. He is a humble man with an enormous heart. His life experiences and stories have helped so many to be grateful for what they have. He has blessed, and will continue to bless our families and everyone he meets.
